This year's Richard Shatten
Public Policy Case Competition looked at the future of the former Coast
Guard station at Whiskey Island. Cleveland officials have been
discussing the possibility of turning
the station into an environmental history interpretive center with a
small restaurant.
The
City of Cleveland quietly initiated repairs
of the historic
Coast Guard station
at Whiskey Island. Workers have begun replacing its deteriorated roof. At
the same time, a group of Coast Guard veterans is bringing a retired Coast
Guard cutter
to Cleveland. They hope to restore it as
a maritime museum at the station.
Update: the Apalachee
arrived in Cleveland on Sunday.
